Even with a good effort and some great serving, the Wildcats weren't able to pull off a victory on this day.

Carolina Day Labor of Love Project

Students in all divisions at Carolina Day were asked to work over the Labor Day weekend to help raise their own money for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. We have heard many stories about our students and their successes. We'll be featuring some of this work in the second issue of Bell Notes which will be mailed around the end of October. These are just a few examples.

The Harlan and the Abernethy children hosted a lemonade stand. Their efforts were very successful.

William Bradshaw and David Christianson also opened up a lemonade stand. They did their best to get their customers to opt for the "large" cup--bringing in extra money for the relief efforts. David continued the business for a few more days, even enlisting the help of kids from other schools and communities.

Eighth grader Jenna Biro rounded up several middle school buddies including Melissa Garrett, Anna Garrison, Josh Dawson, Grace Geagan, and a Valley Springs Middle School student and set up a car wash. They did a terrific job earning a hefty sum for the project.

And new sixth grader Christian Humes set up a lemonade stand outside of his aunt's shop and single-handedly earned a sizeable amount for the relief effort.

The total amount earned by all students in all divisions is still being collected and counted. It is quite sizeable, but the amount is not as important as the cause they are supporting and the compassion these students are displaying. We will have a follow-up story to report in the second issue of Bell Notes.

Please email Mark Levin if you have Labor of Love stories to report. We cannot guarantee their inclusion in an article, but we do want you to know how much everyone's work is appreciated.
