As always, it has been a busy week at Carolina Day.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

Cinco de Mayo was observed several days ago in style. A genuine mariachi band performed while lower school students danced and celebrated.

The second graders took on the roles of Greek gods and goddesses and pretended to be statues in a wax museum. When visitors deposited the proper token, the statues would come alive and tell their tale.

Field Day was held last Friday for the Lower School under perfect weather conditions.

Students brought canned goods to donate to Manna FoodBank at the beginning of the field day activities.

Lower school students in the Key School have been studying the African rain forest. Each group presented information to their classmates on a variety of topics such as animals.

Okay, it IS hard to see who these people are. But that's to show you just how huge this whale is. Setting up this life-size blue whale and walking inside is a PK tradition.

The first graders presented "Sir Bookworm" yesterday and today. It was a charming rhyming play about a little girl who doesn't see the need to read. Each student portrayed a different literary character. In the end, the reluctant reader was won over by the characters she came to know.

Yesterday, fourth graders presented their medieval history projects. Each student was dressed for the part.

And yesterday was also Senior Send-Off. This was an evening for seniors and their fellow students and teachers to enjoy some fun for one more time before heading off to future endeavors.

One highlight was the, well, how should I say it...Okay, I'm not going to say it, but it involved some teachers and this cute pig. Click this link to see photos from Senior Send-Off and to see what happened next with the pig.

Is it Friday yet? Well, almost. And these juniors are certainly ready for it. Tomorrow is Reading Day in the Upper School. (Actually, that doesn't involve a whole lot of reading.) Upper school students begin regular exams next week.
