The School's Opening Convocation was held today with the entire student body and staff in attendance.

The event started with the tradition of the seniors walking to
the bell located in the lower school courtyard.

Seniors have the privilege of ringing the bell as the rest of the students assemble in the Nash Athletic Center. Thomas Barr, a student at CDS since Pre-K, takes his turn ringing in the start of the new year.

In turn each senior has a hand in starting the new year.

The seniors enter the Nash Athletic Center last to take their seats in an honored section of the gym. In nine months they'll do the same as Carolina Day graduates.

Upper School Student Council President Adam Trufant leads the students in the Pledge of Allegiance. Head of School Bev Sgro inspires the students with her short speech about character and making good choices.

The Sixth Grade Chorus leads the audience in singing "America the Beautiful," directed by lower school music teacher Jane Corbin and accompanied by middle school music teacher Beth Heinberg.

And the seniors have the privilege of leaving first with the students respectfully giving them this honor.
