Quick Pix As always, it has been a busy few days at Carolina Day. Fall sports season is nearing the half-way point. Don't miss out on some great opportunities to enjoy an afternoon of exciting competition. These photos are from Tuesday's middle school soccer match against Immaculata School. Our boys didn't have any trouble adding a win to their season.
Pizza Sales have started. These mostly-smiling fifth graders take turns with their fellow classmates and are responsible for taking orders and distributing close to 60 pizzas each week. They give away all the profits to charitable causes.
And these are just a few of the grateful pizza eaters.
It was PJ Day for the Key School's first through third graders last Friday. At they end of the day they got to curl up with a good book, a good buddy or two, and a flashlight for some reading. How could life be any better?
Yesterday the Parent Council's Arts & Creativity Committee brought the Steep Canyon Rangers, an area bluegrass band, on campus to provide musical entertainment during the lunch periods.
The lively music prompted a lot of dancing in the streets.
Respect and responsibility in action. All of our students in the first through eighth grades take turns cleaning up after themselves in the cafeteria. These first graders show that work can be fun, and you can be sure the students who came down for the next lunch period appreciated their hard work.
The fifth grade Carolina Kids' News reporters are learning the ropes of being good journalists. Today Tammy Watford and Bill Evans of WLOS-TV came to talk with the students about what it is like to be professional broadcast journalists.
In Spanish class, kindergarten through fourth graders celebrated Mexico's cry of independence from Spain in 1810. The anniversary is September 16, and every year Mexicans gather together in their town squares and shout the celebratory words, "Viva Mexico! Viva!" (Long Live Mexico!) The students had a fiesta with chips, salsa, guacamole, and Mexican soda while Senorita Calvert showed them her photos from Mexico.
Twenty-nine boys and girls in the Lower School gather every Wednesday afternoon for Chess Club. They enjoy learning chess strategies and winning moves from an experienced master.
