Quick Pix As always, it has been a busy few days at Carolina Day. Our tour this week takes us through the halls of the Upper School just to see if we can discover what our students do during their "free" time. First stop was in the auditorium where a group of frosh were busily doing the unexpected--studying!
Leo, below, was studying until being interrupted by the photographer. He happily showed off his Spanish-class "pesos." Each student attempts to collect a certain amount by Friday "or else." Leo was gladly explaining that he had more than enough and didn't need to worry.
And these two girls took a moment out of their studies to entertain.
The photographer next walked into the main office area of the Upper School to discover Tom Marberger discussing a history paper with these juniors. They'll be coming into this office a lot more often as they begin to gear up for college admissions.
Next stop was the library where the photographer found several students engaged in serious study. It was actually quite impressive.
These girls found a nice comfy place to study--the new chairs in the upper school foyer.
Enough studying. These lower school students are photographed taking a break from their hard work.
And this kindergartner says, "It's time to go home, mom! I've learned enough for one day."
There are sports events happening just about every day during the year at CDS. These next few shots were taken at the middle school volleyball game on Monday. The girls played a tough match against Asheville Christian Academy. The team came came up short in the end, losing 2 - 0.
These students are ready for some action as ball "girls" for the varsity soccer game played on Monday.
The CDS Wildcats were dominating in all areas of the game and added another victory to their season. They defeated ACA 6-1.
Taking school spirit to the next level. These guys traveled to Asheville School yesterday "dressed" like this to show their support for our varsity cross country team. It takes a lot of self-confidence to show up at a rival school decorated like this--especially on a cold and wet day.
