As always, it has been a busy few days at Carolina Day.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

The Middle School sponsored a Bike & Walk To School Day this past Friday. About fifty students participated along with some teachers and parents. All of the mileage walked or biked totaled up to 76 miles, so that saved a few gallons of gas!

You would not believe it was a very cold morning looking at this eighth grader.

But this guy was dressed a little warmer.

Yes, there were walkers. Unfortunately for the photographer, they took a different route and missed their photo op.

The regular fall sports season is over, and it is now time for playoffs for the varsity teams. These girls decorated the fence yesterday next to the field hockey field to say "goodbye" to the senior athletes on the team. Those are plastic drink cups they've arranged in the fencing.

This does take a rocket scientist! Or at least a class of eighth graders.

Eighth grade students have been studying the science of rockets, air flow, jet propulsion, and all kinds of other facets of aerodynamics. They built rockets out of two-liter drink bottles, equipped them with landing parachutes, and fired them on the field this week using water pressurized by pumping air into the rockets with a bicycle pump.

Your photographer witnessed several launchings including one rocket that stayed aloft for 11.5 seconds.

However, this wasn't that particular one!

Many parachutes didn't deploy as planned, but this one was impressive. Actually, the whole activity was quite amazing. The students were having a "blast."

You might wonder why a bunch of lower school students would gather in a group on the floor in the gym and do homework?

It's because they're patiently waiting to go on stage for their upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast. No, it's not the Disney version. Ours is better because dozens and dozens of kids are involved. Make plans to come out and see the show on Friday, October 27 at 7 P.M.

You might wonder what this is all about?

Yesterday was pajama day in the pre-kindergarten classes. And here's Chef Patty whipping up some delicious pancakes to start the day.

And to end the day, we see Chef Patty taking on a new role. She's shown here with the children acting out the book, The Napping House.
She did a very convincing job. The kids had to shake and shake to wake her up.

These upper school students were enjoying a lab in science class yesterday building and testing electrical circuits.

Parting Snaps...

And finally, the photographer walked around the classrooms in the Key School and snapped these pictures without anyone even knowing.

Actually, Adam (above) took the photo below.
