As always, it has been a busy few days at Carolina Day.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

Fifth graders have been studying idioms. Yesterday they were getting to illustrate a few of their favorites.

The Advanced Placement United States history students hold an annual tea where some of the most important people from the late 1880s through the early 1900s appear in person. The students dress and converse in character. They were even filmed by WLOS-Channel 13 for a news segment.

Talk about a guest list! Some of the distinguished citizens coming for tea included William Jennings Bryan, Andrew Carnegie, Boss Tweed, Lincoln Steffens, Victoria Woodhull, Chief Joseph, Kate Chopin, Queen Lil, Emma Goldman, W.E.B. DuBois, Dorothea Dix, Mary E. Lease, Susan B. Anthony, Booker T. Washington, and more.

Key School first through third graders were giving book talks this week - complete with props. It's always a favorite activity.

Dancing--it's harder than it looks.

Jake Southern, the lower school PE teacher, has the awesome responsibility of preparing the lower school students for the annual Lower School Family Dance.

Yesterday Coach Southern was cutting a rug on the dance floor - teaching the first graders a variety of favorite dances.

The Lower School Family Dance will be held on Friday evening, February 9.

The Middle School is not to be left out when it comes to dancing. They'll be having a Valentine's dance with an '80s theme. The middle school dance will also be held on February 9.

Yesterday saw our middle school boys basketball team take on the Little Greenies from Christ School. It was an exciting game from the moment of the opening tip-off until the end.

In the end, Christ School went back to Arden with a win.

Parting Snaps...

These middle school students were working on projects in the foyer of Stephens Hall yesterday morning.

And this first grader was happily applying glue to a bulletin board. What could be more fun?
