LOCATION: |
The CDS Library has two divisions: the Lower and Middle School Library is housed in its own building south of the soccer field. . The Upper School Library is on the lower floor of the Upper School building. . Each library has approximately 10,000 volumes. |
HOURS: |
The libraries are usually open during school hours on regular school days.

LOAN PERIOD: |
Lower and Middle School loan period is one month. Upper School loan period is two weeks.

| FINES & LOST BOOKS: |
Library obligations and charges must be taken care of before students are allowed to take midterm or final exams. . The overdue fine rate is $ .05 each day the library is open. . Lost books charges are the cost of replacement and a $15.00 (Upper School) or $10.00 (Middle School) processing fee for ordering, shipping, cataloguing, covering, and preparing the book for circulation. |

| ONLINE DATABASES: | The library web page has subscriptions to many fine databases with fabulous magazine and reference book articles (such as LexisNexis, Britannica Online, and The Student Resource Center) for your researching pleasure. Ask at the library for the passwords so you may use them from home (or anywhere with an internet connection). |

The CDS Libraries use the Dewey Decimal System.

The librarians stock items students may use while working in the library. Please return any item you borrow so it will be available for others' use.

COPY MACHINE (UPPER SCHOOL): |
Copies are 10 cents each if you do not have a copy card. Copy cards lower the cost of copies to five cents each. Copy cards are available from the librarian for $1.00. |
| MAGAZINES: | The Upper School Library subscribes to the Asheville Citizen-Times and more than 20 periodicals for your reading pleasure, such as Car and Driver, ESPN, Seventeen, Runner's World, People, Popular Science, Mental Floss, etc. A complete list is available on the library website at http://www.cdschool.org/library/USMagazines.htm .

| PRINTING: | Please ask the librarian for the instructions on adding the library printer to your CDS student account. You only have to add it once! |
| STUDENT WORKERS: | The Upper School Library employs several student workers each semester who earn community service hours and assist with preparation of new books, shelving, and other duties. Please see the librarian if you are interested in library work.

| BOOK REQUESTS: | The librarians welcome suggestions for books you believe would be a good addition to the library's collection.
