Upper School Faculty - Marbie Kollath

Background

I have been teaching students different artistic techniques since 1993 and recently moved to the Asheville area after living in New England. I enjoy doing my own art work as well, and focus on animals and nature with a realistic style. Watercolor has been my medium of choice recently, but I also enjoy pen and ink, acrylic, oil, colored pencil and graphite. Working on the potter’s wheel and sculpting in clay is also a lot of fun and very useful - nothing like drinking coffee out of a cup you made yourself! I try to impart my own enthusiasm to the students and encourage their creativity in any area they have an interest in, as art is something you can do your entire life and enjoy. Not everyone can be a Monet, but everyone can find beauty in art and improve their artistic abilities.
