8th grade:

The students started the year working on a drawing project using a grid.  They studied contemporary painter Chuck Close.  They made drawings and then a painting of someone they KNOW, admire, and who also know them. In December we worked on the Batik technique of painting with wax as a resist and coloring with dyes.  February till the end of the year each student can pick an independent  project they would like to work on in more depth.  Many students have chose to continue working on their photography skills. Their portfolio projects are shaping up very well.

Photography:

This has been a great year in the darkroom.  We have many students producing excellent photos.

7th Grade:

What is a Pinhole Camera?

The 7th grade just finished the collage project and are working with Pinhole cameras for the rest of the year.  Send in your oatmeal containers!

6th Grade:

The 6th grade is working on the Face Jugs!  They are looking really good.  Though we are running out of time...we might just barely finish.  If they don’t get to glaze them by June. We will glaze first thing next fall (or you can take them home as is).

Effort! Behavior!! Helpfulness!!! Problem Solving and confidence are the Keys to success in Art!!!! See you in the ART Room!!!!!!!
