What they're saying about
A Portrait of Ollie...
Margaret Harvey's passion for inspiring the creativity of children is evident in A Portrait of Ollie. I recommend this book to parents, grandparents, art teachers, or anyone else interested in providing opportunities for children to engage in art that will tap into their unique qualities & creativity.

As a mother of four children, I LOVE this book! I have learned to "facilitate" my kids' art through their experiences rather than my own. My kids have learned that nothing they draw is a mistake. They simply make that mistake into something in their drawings. Wonderful and simple ideas for parents to stimulate their kids' interest in art.
-J. Jansen
This is a superb book for parents of young children and a work that will inspire everyone. A friend wrote that her daughter drew horses one morning and it was "like magic" when she responded "as Margaret says to." Margaret Harvey is a creative genius, and her book is a model of clarity and imagination. I recommend it most highly.

For all art teachers and anyone that has or works with children.

I have a daughter that is always looking for artistic outlets. This book has many suggestions for providing creative environments and inspiration for such a child. The author gives practical tips and principles that go beyond traditional teaching methods. My daughter has responded enthusiastically to the ideas. She loves looking at the book herself, especially the vivid color photos of children's artwork. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to foster their child's confidence in their natural creativity.

This is a thoughtful book about children and their ability to create wondrous works of art. I have little ones who are eager to do more than finger paint. This book has helped me guide them along a path towards unique artwork. Too many schools are leaving out "art" as critical in the healthy development of young minds. This book will help you fill that void. Lots of good pictures and project ideas.
