Carolina Day School Press
Carolina Day School is one of the few (if not the only) PK through 12th grade independent schools to host a professional academic press. Founded in 2005, the Carolina Day School Press publishes or co-publishes books by current and former faculty and staff. In addition, the Carolina Day School Press offers guidance through the publishing process for staff members and other friends of the Carolina Day School community who wish to publish their works independently.
The CDS Press also helps publicize books by parents, alumni, and former staff.
We hope that educators, parents, and others will find something by our teachers that will help them in their work and bring enlightenment to their lives.

A Portrait of Ollie
from the Wonderful, Imaginative World of Children
by Margaret Harvey

Margaret Harvey's long career in teaching drawing and painting to young children convinces her that the creativity of all children, when it is properly nurtured, is almost limitless. This book illustrates the uniquely beautiful work of some of her students. The book also provides both broad and detailed suggestions for parents, teachers, and other adults in their efforts to encourage and guide young artists.

Readers Quotes about A Portrait of Ollie...
As a mother of four children, I LOVE this book! I have learned to "facilitate" by kids' art through their experiences rather than my own. My kids have learned that nothing they draw is a mistake. They simply make that mistake into something in their drawings. Wonderful and simple ideas for parents to stimulate their kids' interest in art.
Margaret Harvey's passion for inspiring the creativity is evident in A Portrait of Ollie. I recommend this book to parents, grandparents, art teachers, or anyone else interested in providing opportunities for children to engage in art that will tap into their unique qualities and creativity.
