College Guidance
As a college preparatory school, Carolina Day School focuses on the personal and intellectual growth of each individual. The faculty and the curriculum prepare each student well for the rigors of higher education. The goal of the college counseling program is to guide students and their parents through the sometimes bewildering excess of information about the more than three thousand institutions of higher learning in the U.S.
Getting into college has become an enormously complicated process with many components. Internet access to colleges, sophisticated marketing plans, and the currently large population of college-bound adolescents have created the myth that college is a scarce commodity. In reality, only about fifteen percent of the colleges and universities in the United States have thousands more applicants than spaces. With careful guidance both formal and informal, each Carolina Day School senior will find a spot at an institution that matches his or her talents and interests.
